OIT supports Rice faculty, staff, and students with their tech needs in a variety of ways– see the Support Services list below. When you need guidance or have a technical issue, contact the consulting staff of the OIT Help Desk via phone or electronically. The OIT Help Desk is the centralized point of contact for information technology support services including account management, connectivity to Rice network, password reset, general troubleshooting, mobile device support, VPN configuration, email setup, and more.
Support Services
- Service Alerts: The IT Status web page shows notifications about planned and unplanned outages affecting campus computing and networking services.
- Classroom Support: While teaching, if you experience technical difficulties, call 713-348-4989.
- Canvas: Vendor technical support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via hotline or chat. Log into Canvas, and select the Help button in the Global Navigation bar.
- Teaching & Learning: For helpful tips about Zoom, Kaltura, Canvas, and more, see Learning Environment's FAQs.
- Research Computing Assistance: Reach out to the Center for Research Computing.
- Administrative Systems: Information about the Administrative Applications that support the business functions of the university.
