Accessing Organizational (Shared) Rice (Cyrus) Webmail Accounts with DUO Multifactor Authentication
Article Contents
Overview
Starting on November 15, 2024, you will be required to use DUO multi-factor authentication (MFA) through the Rice Web Single Sign-On (WebSSO) service when you log in and access an organization (shared) email account via Rice (Cyrus) Webmail (https://webmail.rice.edu). DUO MFA brings an additional layer of security to your email account and Rice-related correspondence.
You will need to: (1) log in with your personal NetID credentials, (2) complete the DUO MFA authentication, and (3) login with your organization (shared) account credentials to access the organizational mailbox.
How to Log into Your (Shared) Organizational Account on Rice (Cyrus) Webmail
- Navigate to Rice (Cyrus) Webmail via https://webmail.rice.edu.
- Input your personal NetID and password into the Rice Web Single Sign-On (WebSSO) NetID login. Acknowledge and complete the DUO Multi-factor authentication (MFA) prompt on your phone or other device. NOTE: If you already have an active single sign-on (SSO) session in another Rice application, you may not receive a DUO prompt, and will be skipped to step 4.
- Acknowledge and complete the DUO Multi-factor authentication (MFA) prompt on your phone or other device.
- Complete the login process by inputting your organization (shared) NetID and password to access Rice (Cyrus) Webmail.
Note: Groups will no longer have a shared username and password in Webmail when the org/shared mailboxes are migrated to Gmail.
