Edgar Password Reset Troubleshooting
If you experience trouble with self-service Edgar password reset, try the following solutions.
NetID and Single Sign-On (SSO) Problem
- If you get a message indicating your Single Sign-On session has expired, please:
- Check your bookmark. If your bookmarked URL contains SSO path - something like "https://idp.rice.edu/idp/profile/SAML2/Redirect/SSO?execution=e1s1", please correct it to https://edgar.rice.edu/forgot.html. Your bookmark URL should only contain https://edgar.rice.edu/forgot.html.
- Close and re-open your browser, and then enter https://edgar.rice.edu/forgot.html.
- If it does not work, clear your browser's cache and repeat the above step. To learn how to clear the browser's cache, read https://kb.rice.edu/search.php?q=cache&cat=0.
- If you see a spinning wheel on your screen after trying to access https://edgar.rice.edu/forgot.html, please:
- Check if you are on the Rice Campus network, or on Rice VPN if off campus. VPN stands for Virtual Private Network because it makes your computer appear as if it was connected to the Rice Campus network. Some Rice resources are only available to computers inside the Rice network, such as the Edgar password reset application, Banner, Edgar, Hyperion, and Rice Marketplace. VPN allows you to connect remotely to the Rice network and access these restricted resources. To learn more about VPN and how to install it, please read https://kb.rice.edu/search.php?q=vpn&cat=0.
- If you are logged out after inactivity for more than 3 minutes (this is because the application has a security feature to automatically log out idle users for more than 3 minutes), please:
- Close your browser, and then re-try the link https://edgar.rice.edu/forgot.html to start over.
Duo Security Problem
- If you encounter a Duo error message in red indicating your username cannot be found in Duo, it means you haven't enrolled in Duo security. To enroll in Duo security, please:
- Read Duo Enrollment Guide at https://kb.rice.edu/page.php?id=70779 and follow the instructions to sign up with Duo Security**.
** Note: After Duo signup, please make sure to complete Banner/Edgar password reset process at https://edgar.rice.edu/forgot.html.
Email Problem
- If you don't receive a PIN email, please:
- Make sure you have logged into https://edgar.rice.edu/forgot.html. You will receive the PIN email after you have successfully authenticated yourself (via Single Sign-On and Duo Security) into https://edgar.rice.edu/forgot.html.
- If you still cannot receive the PIN email after successfully logging into https://edgar.rice.edu/forgot.html, check your email filter to make sure your filter does not filter out the sender "admsys@rice.edu". Or, check your email spam folder to make sure it's not filtered out by Proofpoint.
- Other useful tips if you cannot find the PIN email -
- Wait a couple of minutes - sometimes the mail delivery server might be slow
- Click the "Resend PIN" button after successfully logging into https://edgar.rice.edu/forgot.html
