View and/or Send Headers of an Email

This document explains how to obtain and send the source of an email message (also referred to as: mail headers). Email headers are usually used to see information such as who has sent and received a message, where the message has passed through a server, and what kind of errors may have prevented the email from reaching its intended destination. OIT will ask for email headers if someone reports a suspicious message, for example, a phishing or spam email message. This will enable OIT to block this type of message from going through our mail servers.
