Updates to operating systems and software often patch vulnerabilities and so help protect your information. Do you keep your systems current?
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA) lead a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise cybersecurity awareness.
Strong Defense: Current Software
Cybersecurity basic rules include a strong password defense, avoiding scams, and keeping your software current. Using the latest versions of operating systems, software, and apps ensures that you have the latest security patches installed (as well as fixes for other problems).
If you can, set up the update process to occur automatically so you don’t have to think about it. If not, check on a regular basis and be sure only to obtain updates from the company directly. Don’t fall for the scams within pop-up windows that push you to download an urgent update. For more advice, read:
