On May 27, 2022, we completed a change to how you login to WordPress websites hosted on CampusPress cloud services (*.blogs.rice.edu).

Logins will prompt for Duo Security authentication, our multifactor authentication (MFA) system. These are the same login services used for other systems at Rice and will only affect your NetID login process. The WordPress sites will continue to be available and accessible to public without login (unless you have selected otherwise).

This change is an important step in protecting Rice accounts from attacks and is part of the information security improvements for the cloud environments (see also: Duo Security for Google and Microsoft Environments Coming).

----

Why are we making these changes?

Rice accounts are continually targeted by attackers for a variety of reasons, from nation state espionage to criminals stealing information to sell or extort. Using Duo with our accounts and services adds a significant hurdle to gaining access to our private resources even if an attacker guesses or steals an account password.

When did these changes take place?
