How to connect a Ubuntu Linux computer to Rice Owls

Connecting to the network

The first step is to select the networking menu from the drop down menus in the upper right corner of the screen.

Then, select the "Rice Owls" wireless network, as shown below.

When you do, the following dialogue should pop up.

Select the Authentication box, and change the value to "Protected EAP (PEAP)."

Make sure the Inner Authentication is set to"MSCHAPv2"

Your Username/Password are your NETID and NETID Password, as shown below.

After entering all the important information, click connect.

The following warning message should pop up, informing you that you don't have a CA certificate selected.

Check the "No certificate necessary" checkbox.

Select the "Don't warn me again," option, and click "Ignore."

After that, the computer will connect to the wireless network.

Sometimes it will take a minute or two for the computer to connect, but when it does you should see the following message in the upper right hand corner of the screen:
