Account - What is my NetID?
The Rice NetID is your username and password combination which allows access to university services such as email, calendar, printing, personal storage, VPN, computing resources, and course management. Your NetID is established within 24 hours of your undergraduate student status (early May after your deposit is received), graduate student department acceptance, or acceptance of employment. Your NetID username is not the same as your Rice ID number.

Eligibility for NetID
Your NetID account will remain active for the duration of your "active" status at the university. This eligibility requirement - you are a current employee or currently enrolled student. Any questions regarding student eligibility, contact the Office of the Registrar. Any questions regarding faculty or staff eligibility, contact Human Resources. University retirees as defined by Human Resources have limited access - email only.
Activate Your NetID
New students, faculty, and staff must activate their NetID using their Rice ID number. For instructions on activating your NetID, refer to: Activate Your NetID.
Changing your NetID Username
There are limited circumstances under which you can change your NetID username. To request a name change, you must notify the OIT Help Desk.

Forgot Your Password?
