In December 2022, new storage quotas for Google Workspace were implemented for all faculty, staff, students and visitors because Google discontinued unlimited storage to education customers. Rice OIT has been notifying individuals who exceed current quotas and can provide assistance to migrate Google Drive items to an alternative service.
Current quotas for Google Storage which include Google Mail, Google Drive and Google Photos are detailed here https://kb.rice.edu/114476
OIT started to enforce the new quotas in January 2022.
- If you currently exceed the new quota, you will be contacted directly with additional information.
- If you need assistance with the migration of your data that exceeds the limitation, submit an OIT Request.
- To view the total storage you are using, go to the Google account storage page and log into your account: https://kb.rice.edu/92856
- A new tool called Mover.io is now available to assist you with copying data from your Google storage into OneDrive: https://kb.rice.edu/119305
