Archive: Mount storage drive on a Macintosh

Instructions on mounting a storage server on a Macintosh.

 Please see this new message regarding the decommission of storage service.

(NOTE: Please make sure to type the direction of the slash "/" correctly when typing the path of the drive)

1. Select Connect to Server from the Go menu. Or, you can press Command-K on the keyboard from within Finder.)

2. Enter smb://storage.rice.edu/{a-z}-home/netid in the Server Address field, where {a-z} is the first letter of your NetID, and netid is your NetID. For example, if your NetID is abc1, you would enter:

smb://storage.rice.edu/a-home/abc1

3. Then click Connect.

4. Select "Registered User." Enter your NetID in the "Name field" and your NetID password for the "Password" field before
clicking the Connect button.

5. Your storage home folder will open immediately, and the volume named with your NetID will appear under "Devices" in the Finder.

6. If you wish to disconnect from your enterprise storage volume, open a Finder window, go to locations on the sidebar then click the eject
the button next to the volume or use the Disconnect button.
