Effective May 17, new Rice Google accounts will use NetID passwords for access. Current account holders will still have two passwords (Google and NetID) until they change one and then they will be synchronized.

On May 17, 2021, OIT will be linking Rice Google accounts to Rice NetID accounts. This change will not have an immediate effect except for new account holders, which will use their NetID password to access their Rice Google account. Existing faculty, staff, and student account holders will continue to have two passwords: a NetID password and a Google password until they update a password.

When existing account holders change their NetID or Google password, these two passwords will become synchronized. The separate Google password will be discontinued. (This change is similar to what was already done for Active Directory, Box, Esther and other services.) If individuals would like to have one less password to remember, they may synchronize them by resetting their password by visiting https://mynetid.rice.edu.
