KB User's Guide - Users Tab - Remove User from This Group

This feature streamlines user access management by allowing KB admins to efficiently maintain group memberships, reduce unnecessary access permissions, and ensure users remain associated with the correct default group when changes are made. This document explains the behavior of the Remove User from This Group button on the Users tab of the KB Admin Tools.

The Remove User from This Group button removes a user's access privileges from the currently selected KB group. This feature helps KB Admin Tools group administrators maintain accurate group membership, enforce appropriate access controls, and quickly remove users who no longer require access to a specific group.

The following conditions apply:

  • If the current group is the user's default group and the user does not belong to any other KB groups, the user is removed from the KB system entirely.
  • If the current group is the user's default group and the user belongs to one or more additional KB groups, the user is removed only from the current group. The system then automatically assigns a new default group based on the lowest KB Group ID among the user's remaining group memberships. After the action is completed, the user's new default group is displayed.

Note: The Remove User from This Group button is available only when the user does not own any KB objects, such as documents, news items, or other content. Ownership must be reassigned or removed before the user can be removed from the group.
